Accused wrong-way driver arrested for DUI after crash with semi-tanker truck: FHP

SARASOTA, Fla. - A Spring Hill man was arrested early Sunday morning following a wrong-way crash on I-75 in Sarasota.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Angel Eduardo Martinez was traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-75 just north of Bee Ridge Road shortly before 5 a.m. as a semi-tanker trailer was traveling northbound in the center lane.
When the vehicles approached each other, troopers say the front right area of the Martinez’s sedan collided with the right-side rear portion of the trailer.
The driver of the semi-tanker trailer suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Martinez, who troopers say was not injured in the collision, was arrested for DUI.
The crash is under investigation.
