Two couples had a wedding to remember as they got married while plummeting 14 stories on the Voodoo Drop ride at Six Flags America in Maryland.

There was a master of ceremony on hand as they exchanged their vows and rings on the ground before being lifted 140 feet into the sky on the ride. These couples then said “I do” as they dropped to the ground at a maximum speed of 56 miles per hour.

“It was a really unique way to get married,” said one of the brides. “We had one of our first dates here. It suited us.”

This is not the first time the theme park has held a wedding in this style.

“It's been so long ago though and we wanted to do something that would really kick off our 20th season this year and I thought, ‘Oh my God, we've got this tower. Let's have people get married on this tower ride, the Voodoo Drop tower,’” said Six Flags America spokesperson Denise Stokes.

The maids of honor and the groomsmen also took the plunge on the tower drop along with the couples. On the ground, there was a band and wedding cake on hand as well.

The tower wedding kicked off the Mardi Gras Festival as the theme park is celebrating its 20th year in Prince George’s County. Six Flags America officially opens to the public on March 30 and the festival will continue through April 8.
