Details for the 2nd Annual Skyway 10K were announced Tuesday at an event at Tropicana Field.

The date of the next race is Sunday, March 3, 2019.

This may be turning into one of the premier events in the Bay Area, certainly when it comes to running. Governor Scott says he wants the event to be held for at least the next five years.

The first Skyway 10K in March 2018 brought 7,500 runners from all over the world.

As big of a success as it was, organizers say there was a monumental amount of red tape to make it happen – including the approval of 13 government agencies.

As good as it is for all the runners, it's even better for the charity it benefits, the Armed Forces Families Foundation.

The event raised a half million dollars last year.

“When we went back and say we raised over a half million dollars in a one-day event, I’d be hard-pressed to find any other event in the country that can raise a half million dollars in one day, where 100 percent of that goes back to any charity, let alone for military families,” BRIAN HORNE, SKYWAY 10K

For the second event, organizers hope to increase participation to 8,000.

It filled up last time, so if you're interested in running visit www.skyway10k.com.
