Armed robber holds up Safety Harbor gas station
SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. (FOX 13) - The search is on for an armed robbery suspect who deputies say held up a clerk at gunpoint at the Kwik Stop gas station on Phillipe Parkway, just before 9 o'clock Friday night.
The clerk who was held up didn’t want to go on camera, but he did say it was a terrifying few moments. He said the gun was just inches from his face and the suspect’s finger was on the trigger.
In surveillance video, the suspect has his gun drawn as he knocks several items off the counter and points the gun at the clerk who says the gunman was yelling, 'give me all you got.'
The cashier says the robber appeared nervous and frantic.
In another angle, you can see the suspect rush in, covering his face with a black mask. In the video, he appears to be wearing blue surgical gloves.
The cashier quickly opens the register and grabs the cash.
The entire incident lasted less than 30 seconds before the suspect ran out of the store, making off with a few hundred dollars.
“This is obviously a very dangerous person," Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Spencer Gross said. "You can see in the video he’s very aggressive as he’s pointing the gun in the face of this victim so we want to get him off the street.”
Authorities are now asking for the public’s help to identify and catch the man in the video.
“Detectives have released the video today," Sgt. Gross said. "They’re hoping that maybe someone can identify the clothing this person was wearing. Maybe identify the way this person walks maybe they know this person. We’re looking for any possible leads that can help put this person in jail.”
Detectives say the man in the video was wearing a black hoodie with red sleeves. It had a picture of a crown and the word “king” printed on it.
