1 injured after car crashes into Brooksville insurance company building
BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (FOX 13) - One person was hospitalized after a car crashed through the front of a Brooksville business on Wednesday.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of a Ford Fusion meant to hit the brakes but instead hit the gas and went through the front of Killingsworth Insurance Agency on Cortez Boulevard around 10 a.m. The female driver, who appeared to be older, is a client at the business and was leaving a handicapped parking space at the time of the crash.
The company said a worker sitting at a desk near the window had some cuts and scrapes and had to go to the hospital as a precaution.
Katie Taulbe saw the whole thing unfold and said she was just thankful the situation was not worse.
“I heard a really loud noise, tires squealing and screams,” Taulbe said. “I was worried about the lady who sits right there where the car went in, but she had already jumped up and went away.”
Crews quickly went to work cleaning the inside of the insurance agency and covering the huge hole with boards. It’s unclear if the driver of that Ford Fusion will be charged with anything.
