One dead in fiery crash on Fowler Avenue
TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. - A crash involving three vehicles, with one on fire, led to one person dying and portions of Fowler Avenue in Temple Terrace closed for most of Tuesday morning.
Firefighters arrived around 7 a.m. to battle the flames coming from one car located on Fowler Avenue near Gillette Avenue. All westbound lanes were shut down for the rest of the morning, and reopened after noon. The Interstate 75 ramp onto Fowler Avenue was also closed.
The scene from SkyFOX showed intense flames coming from a car, which appeared to have crashed into a silver vehicle in the westbound lanes. At one point, while firefighters were hosing down the fire, white smoke was thick enough to block the view from air. Foam was left behind on the westbound lanes after firefighters gained control over the fire.
After the fire was out, a red tarp was draped over the car that broke out in flames earlier. Temple Terrace police are investigating the crash. There is no word yet on the cause of the crash, or the victims' identities.
