Police identify elderly couple killed in Clearwater home
CLEARWATER (FOX 13) - The Clearwater Police Department has identified the elderly couple that was killed inside their home on Saturday.
The victims are 88-year-old David Swan and 80-year-old Mina Swan.
The couples neighbor, William Zimmerman, never imaged something like this happening.
"We knew them as neighbors, they'd walk their dog, I'd see her out getting her paper every morning," he said.
Someone called police around 2 p.m. Saturday, leading to the discovery of the victims.
"This is still an ongoing, active situation," explained Clearwater Police Lt. Michael Walek. "We'll be out here throughout the rest of the night again."
Investigators spent hours at the couple's Flushing Avenue home on Sunday searching for clues.
"It doesn't appear to be a random thing," Lt. Walek said. "I would tell the people of the community to relax, and not to worry that someone else is coming around."
Police have not released any information about a potential suspect.
Anyone with information on this case should call 727-562-4242.
