Little boy gives out goody bags to homeless in Clearwater

CLEARWATER, Fla. - No doubt social media can move people in positive ways. It inspired a young man to take on a very adult responsibility. He's What's Right With Tampa Bay. 

Eleven-year-old Caleb Ruddock and his family are working together to help those down on their luck. "I like feel happy when I help other people," Caleb said.

They're bagging toiletries and snacks to give out to the homeless.  

Caleb got the idea from a You-Tube video of people handing out water to the homeless and decided he wanted to help out. He asked his parents for 50 dollars to make five goody bags.

"Other people heard about it so they started donating money so we did another 20." Caleb said.

Caleb calls his endeavor "Help for the Homeless." He travels to downtown Clearwater four times a year giving out the bags.

Shawn, Caleb's dad, says, "It doesn't have to be an adult, you don't have to be a millionaire. It can just be a kid with desire to help others that are in a need."

Caleb says the grass-roots effort has been a big hit with the homeless.

"They're mostly excited cause they're happy to see that someone actually cares about them," Caleb said, showing love and compassion for those who are less fortunate.
