The movie based on the abduction of a Tampa teenager in 1984 that led to the capture of serial killer Bobby Joe Long premiered Sunday night on the Lifetime Movie Network.

A special viewing was also held at the Tampa movie theater where Long was captured, thanks to details from his lone survivor and a determined detective with the Tampa Police Department.

"Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey" recreated the struggles of a teenager living in an abusive home, but was able to use the skills she developed during years of trauma to outsmart her abductor and become the only woman to survive his murderous rampage.

Lisa McVey, now Lisa Noland, was surrounded by family and friends in the theater for Sunday's premiere at Villagio Cinemas on North Dale Mabry Highway. Proceeds from ticket sales benefited Mary Lee's House, which provides services to victims of domestic violence.

Noland is now a Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy and school resource officer.

Bobby Joe Long was sentenced to death after being accused of killing 10 women in the Bay Area. He is still on death row.
