Hillsborough deputy hits, kills teen crossing Tampa roadway
TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says a teenager died when he was hit by a deputy driving an undercover, unmarked vehicle.
It happened Friday night at 124th Avenue and Florida Avenue in Tampa around 8 p.m.
HCSO says the deputy was approaching a green light when two teens, one walking with a bike, were crossing the road outside of a crosswalk.
The deputy told investigators he swerved to miss the teen walking the bike, but hit the 15-year-old walking alongside.
According to FOX 13's Catherine Hawley, the deputy's unmarked vehicle had visible damage on the front. No other vehicles were involved.
