Pasco County woman charged with DUI following fatal crash
BAYONET POINT (FOX 13) - A bicyclist has died following a crash, where a driver was under the influence of drugs, troopers say.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers say 51-year-old Michelle Axelson, of New Port Richey, was traveling eastbound on the inside lane of State Road 52, approaching a green traffic signal at the intersection of La Madera Boulevard. She had a passenger with her, 28-year-old Ericka Susalla.
The bicyclist, 48-year-old Richard Barry, of Hudson, was riding southbound across SR-52 at the intersection of La Madera Boulevard, according to an FHP media release. Barry entered into the path of Axelson’s 2014 Chevrolet Cruze and collided.
Barry was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital, but died from his injuries, troopers say. Axelson and Susalla had no injuries.
Axelson was arrested for DUI and driving with a revoked or suspended license.
