Second suspect in custody after Clearwater AT&T robbery

Clearwater police say they have apprehended the subject of a brief manhunt in the Rocky Point area of Tampa.

There are now two people in custody in connection with an armed robbery at the AT&T store on U.S. 19 N in Pinellas County Saturday afternoon.

The Clearwater Police Department said the two armed men robbed the store at gunpoint around 3:45 p.m. and then fled toward Tampa on the Courtney Campbell Causeway.

The suspects fled the scene in a grey Nissan SUV, which was spotted by a Clearwater officer on the causeway a short time later.

The officer followed the vehicle but did not pursue the suspects until more officers arrived.

Officers from Clearwater and Tampa converged upon the suspects when they reached the Rocky Point area of Tampa. One suspect was arrested there, but the other managed to escape for a few hours before being caught.

The suspects are Dajor Atkins, 25, and Anthony Riley, 23, both of Tampa, will be charged with armed robbery.

Additional charges may be added.

Police say none of the victims at the AT&T store were injured during the robbery.
