TPD investigates another death in Seminole Heights
TAMPA, Fla - A community on edge after two murders has been flung further into fear after the third body in two weeks was found Thursday night.
Tampa police were on the scene of a death investigation in Seminole Heights near N 15th Street and E Conover Street.
Tampa Police Department's Interim Chief Brian Dugan said they are treating this death as being connected to two previous deaths until they can prove otherwise.
Chief Dugan said a patrol officer already canvassing the area heard gunshots and ran toward the sound. The officer found a person dead on the sidewalk.
The chief wasn't able to give many details but said the person was alone and found a few hundred yards from where another victim, Benjamin Mitchell was found.
Mitchell, 21, was shot and killed Monday, October 9 while waiting at a bus stop a few hundred yards from his house on N. 15th Street near Hillsborough Avenue.
Tampa police released surveillance video of a man who might be key to solving Mitchell's murder.
Later that week on Friday, October 13, Tampa city workers discovered the body of Monica Hoffa, 32, in an empty field.
Although Tampa police said Hoffa suffered "upper body trauma," several neighbors said they heard gunshots two days earlier.
