Victim's wallet stolen in Walmart parking lot, deputies say
INVERNESS (FOX 13) - A Citrus County victim was robbed after two suspect followed him to his car in a Walmart parking lot, deputies say.
On Friday around 10 p.m., deputies with the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Walmart, located at 2461 East Gulf to Lake Highway in Inverness. They say two unknown men approached the victim as he was walking to his car.
The men were armed, and showed a handgun while demanding the keys to the victim’s car, deputies say. The victim handed over his keys, but the two men were unable to start the vehicle. Instead, they took the victim’s wallet and ran towards the Wendy’s fast-food chain near the Walmart.
Deputies say the victim provided the following description of the suspects:
Suspect One: white male, approximately 18 to 20 years old; thin build; wearing a dark ski mask, white tank top, and dark pants
Suspect Two: male, 18 to 20 years old; possibly black
Deputies say they are reviewing surveillance video, but it is not being released. There is no word on the reason. Anyone with information on the suspects’ identities or whereabouts are asked to contact the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office at (352) 726-1121.
