Video: Robbery suspect crawled into driver's window, stole dollar bill, deputies say
TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - A man was arrested after crawling through a driver’s car window and running off with a dollar bill, deputies said.
The suspect, later identified as 59-year-old Jerome Marciniak, was seen in surveillance video roaming around the victim’s car while she was at a drive-through ATM machine, according to Hillsborough County deputies. The robbery occurred on Jan. 23 at 8 a.m. at the Regions Bank, located at 10109 Hillsborough West.
Marciniak approached the victim, who was sitting in the driver’s seat of her 2010 Honda Insight, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies said the suspect showed her a four-inch knife and demanded her money, but she refused to give him any.
So, he crawled through her driver’s side window -- which was open – crawled over the victim, and sat in the passenger seat, investigators said. Then, Marciniak removed the car keys from the ignition and continued waving the knife toward the victim.
The victim was able to get her keys back, investigators said. For several minutes, both struggled over the knife before Marciniak grabbed a $1 bill from the floorboard and ran out of the passenger side door. Deputies said the victim had cuts to her right hand and fingers.
Marciniak was located about 10 miles away in the area of Osbourne Avenue and 17th Street. He was arrested on several charges including aggravated battery and armed burglary.
