SS American Victory a 'national treasure' within Tampa

TAMPA (FOX 13) - A rare warship is docked in our own backyard.

The SS American Victory is one of four fully-operational ships from WWII in the entire country. The 1945 cargo vessel is living the rest of its life as a museum ship in downtown Tampa.

It’s having a “Victory at Sea Celebration and Cruise” on Saturday, December 2, where participants can meet veterans, watch historic ceremonies, and enjoy beautiful weather.

Otherwise, the public can explore the ship every day -- excluding certain holidays -- for an admission fee.
