2 attempted murder suspects accused of opening fire on man in St. Pete arrested following chase: Police

Two men have been arrested after police say they fired several shots at a man on Wednesday afternoon in St. Petersburg.

The backstory:

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, Keon Dawson and Raymond Adams approached another man who was getting out of a vehicle in the 220 block of 14th Ave. North shortly before 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say the pair fired several shots at him, ran back to their car, a black Nissan Altima with no tag, and drove away. Bullets hit the victim's car but did not injure anyone, according to SPPD.

Officers said they spotted Dawson and Adams and tried to stop them, but they kept going, leading police on a chase.

Eventually, police say the suspects stopped at 5th Avenue North and 40th Street North and tried to run away, but a K9 team quickly arrested them.

Officers said they found an assault rifle in the backseat and found a handgun nearby.

According to police, the victim knew Dawson and Adams and the three of them were in a dispute.

Dawson and Adams have been charged with attempted murder.
