FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Two bodies were found inside the landing gear area of a JetBlue plane at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Monday evening, officials said.

A spokesperson for the airline told FOX 13's sister station in Orlando that the bodies were discovered during a routine maintenance inspection following a flight from New York's JFK Airport.

"This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this occurred," the spokesperson said.

Officials also said the identities of the people, along with how they got onto the plane, remain under investigation.
