Alabama college student's story of determination goes viral
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Sometimes dedication, persistence, and even loyalty can pay off.
It all started Saturday morning for a college student who walked about 20 miles along dark Alabama roadways just to get to work.
Walter Carr had just started a new job with Bellhops moving company. He was scheduled to be in at work at 8 a.m. Saturday, but his car broke down.
Still, Carr was not deterred and did not let that set him back. He set out at midnight and walked through the night to make it to his job.
A group of police officers eventually picked him up a few hours in, took him to breakfast, and then took him to his job.
But it was the family Carr was helping to move that was so impressed by his determination they had to share it on social media. Well, the Facebook post went viral.
It eventually caught the eye of the CEO of Bellhops, Luke Marklin, who decided Carr need a new car.
Marklin gifted Carr one of his own vehicles, a barely-driven 2014 ford escape.
