Arctic air bringing cold blast to Florida next week. Here's how low temperatures could drop
TAMPA, Fla. - Florida will feel an even bigger chill next week as arctic air moves over the state.
FOX 13 meteorologists say the same system that will bring heavy snowfall to portions of the northern and central U.S. will also drag a cold front over Florida.
Arctic air will make its way south, eventually reaching Florida.
Timeline for colder weather
FOX 13 Meteorologist Jim Weber says temperatures will go up before they drop sharply, with a warmup back to the 70s for afternoon highs Sunday and Monday in the Tampa Bay area.
The front should arrive later Monday, according to Weber, bringing some rain ahead of the cold blast.
Florida will likely feel below average temperatures through at least mid-January, meteorologists say.
You'll notice a big difference by Tuesday, when the daytime high will stay in the 50s across much of the region.
High temperatures in Tampa will be in the 50s and 60s for several days, starting Tuesday, according to meteorologists.
Meteorologists say temperatures will continue topping out in the upper 50s and lower 60s each afternoon through at least next weekend.
How cold will it get in the morning?
FOX 13 meteorologists say morning lows will drop to the 40s across much of the region throughout most of next week, with some northern and inland areas waking up to temperatures in the 30s.
Morning lows will be below average most days through next week, meteorologists say.
Will Florida see any snow?
While it will be chilly, snow is not in the forecast for the Bay Area. If it does snow in Florida, it would likely be in the far northern part of the state along the I-10 corridor, according to meteorologists.
