Attempted murder suspect arrested in shooting that seriously injured 2 women: HCSO

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man they say shot two women earlier this month. 

What we know:

Deputies were sent to the 1100 block of Fowler Avenue in Tampa on January 26, 2025, around 3:40 a.m. to investigate a possible shooting. 

When they arrived, deputies said they found two women suffering from gunshot wounds. 

Both victims were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Detectives said they identified Addy Ortuno Arroyo, 20, as the shooting suspect.

He was arrested on January 30, 2025, and charged with:

  • Discharge firearm in public or on residential property
  • Aggravated battery great bodily harm or deadly weapon firearm - discharge (x2)
  • Attempted murder in the first-degree premeditated firearm - great bodily harm (x2)
  • Attempted murder in the first-degree premeditated firearm - discharge
  • Aggravated assault with deadly weapon

What we don't know:

Deputies have not released a possible motive for the shooting. 

What they're saying:

"Our team worked tirelessly to identify and arrest the suspect responsible for this senseless act of violence," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Thanks to our detective's dedication, this individual will now be held accountable for his reckless actions. We remain committed to seeking justice for the victims and ensuring the safety of our community."
