Clearwater Police, with the help of some customers and workers at Men's Wearhouse, arrested a suspected bank robber trying to steal shirts in an effort to change his appearance after trying to rob the bank.

Clearwater police officers said the suspect was arrested minutes after he tried to rob a bank at Clearwater Mall Thursday. They arrested him after customers and workers wrestled and captured him as he tried to steal some shirts from the nearby Men's Wearhouse.

Officers said the suspect tried to rob the Wells Fargo bank at 2699 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. shortly before noon. The suspect handed the teller a note saying he planned to rob the bank. He left, however, without getting any money.

Four minutes later, police were called about to the Men's Wearhouse, where the same man was caught trying to steal shirts.

The employees and customers were not aware he was a suspected bank robbery when they wrestled him to the ground and held him until officers arrived.

The suspect, 44-year-old Michael Pascuzzo was taken into custody and will face multiple charges, including bank robbery and retail theft. He will be booked into the Pinellas County Jail.
