Bay Pines in need of wreaths for veterans
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Bay Pines National Cemetery is in need of donations for wreaths to be put on the gravestones of fallen veterans for the holidays.
The wreaths help to remember and honor the more than 34,000 veterans buried at the cemetery as part of the Wreaths Across American program.
So far, only 1,369 of 34,000 wreaths have been sponsored, which is only about 4 percent.
Anyone wishing to donate to Bay Pines National Cemetery can head to this link.
The wreath-laying ceremony is on Saturday, December 16, and they also still need volunteers.
Anyone wishing to volunteer can head to this website for more information and click on the word "volunteer."
More than 1,200 cemeteries across the country are participating in the program.
You can sponsor a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery or find a cemetery near where you live to sponsor. The cost is about $15 a wreath.
