Bubba the Love Sponge investigated for ratings tampering
TAMPA (FOX 13) - FOX 13 has learned radio shock jock Bubba 'The Love Sponge' Clem is under investigation for ratings tampering.
Beasley Media Group confirms they are investigating the allegations but won't say whether Bubba will remain on the air during their probe and did not release any other information surrounding the allegations.
Nielsen released the following statement:
Bubba told FOX 13 today he was unaware of the ratings tampering allegations and was off the air Friday because he was being treated for injury after a fall.
He denied he had been fired from the station and said he would have more to say once he had more information on the allegations against him.
Last August, Cox Media Group fired Bubba and yanked him from the radio lineup on Hot Talk 102.5 The Bone.
Six months later, Bubba was picked up by Beasley Media Group and they introduced a new format on 98.7 WHFS-FM.
Now, Bubba's radio career remains uncertain pending the outcome of the investigation.
