Apparent active shooter, bomb threats at Claremont McKenna College deemed hoax: Police
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. - An apparent swatting call – with the caller allegedly phoning in bomb and shooting threats – forced hours-long police activity at Claremont McKenna College.
What we know:
The Claremont Police Department responded to a call from Claremont McKenna College around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13 after getting reports of a possible active shooter.
The threat forced the school to order a "shelter in place" and officers from La Verne, Ontario and Upland police departments jumped in to help Claremont PD at the scene.
After a campus-wide search for the possible gunman, police deemed the threats a hoax.
No one was hurt from the alleged swatting call, police said.

What we don't know:
As of 8 p.m., officials have not announced any arrests from the fake threats.
It is also unknown if the caller had any ties with the school.
Local perspective:
The swatting call marks the second fake threat targeting a Southern California establishment over the last 24 hours.
On Wednesday, a children's hospital in Loma Linda received a fake active shooter report, prompting evacuations and heavy police response. No one was arrested from the San Bernardino County swatting call.
It is unknown if the two separate incidents were related or from the same alleged caller.
