FOX 13'3 Charley Belcher took the Gelatin Plunge for the Children's Cancer Center Saturday, and it was a cold, slippery, orange Jello-filled experience he said he was happy to have.

More than 500 people took the slide into a pool filled with 2,000 gallons of orange gelatin. Children's Cancer Center said the event is symbolic of "silly and lively spirit of the CCC."

Saturday's Gelatin Plunge raised over $290,000 for the Children's Cancer Center.

The CCC said the Gelatin Plunge helps children who are battling cancer and chronic blood disorders, along with their families, with support from 24 programs. Funds raised go toward emotional, educational and financial needs.

Charley Belcher, whose daughter suffered from leukemia as a young child, but has been in remission and is healthy today, is a constant supporter of the Children's Cancer Center and said he was pleased to continue being a part of the fight against childhood caner.

The CCC said the Gelatin Plunge, whose title sponsor has been Caspers Company since it started in 2013, has grown tremendously since its first year, when it raised $40,000.
