Nearly 30,000 pounds of Chomps meat sticks have been recalled after reports of pieces of metal found in the food product.

The recall, first announced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on March 20, includes packages that were distributed to retailers nationwide.

Here’s what to know:

Chomps meat sticks recall

What we know:

Idaho Smokehouse Partners, LLC, based in Shelley, Idaho, recalled approximately 29,541 pounds of ready-to-eat beef stick products that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal, according to the announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The packages were shipped to distribution centers in California, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and Washington "for further distribution to retail locations nationwide," the notice said.

Why you should care:

Two customers reported pieces of metal found in the product, officials said. The ready-to-eat Chomps beef sticks were produced between Jan. 13 and Jan. 15, 2025, and don’t expire until 2026 – so the FSIS said it’s concerned that some of the recalled products may be in consumers’ pantries.

There have been no confirmed reports of injuries, officials said.

Idaho Smokehouse Partners told FOX News Digital on Friday that once the company was made aware of the complaints, "out of an abundance of caution, we worked with regulatory authorities on the best way to protect consumers from this issue."

"We are taking this action because we are committed to the highest food safety standards for the consumers of our products," the company added.

What you can do:

Consumers who have purchased the recalled beef sticks were urged not to consume them. "These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase," the notice said.
