Convicted felon located in shed after stealing firearm from woman: HCSO

A convicted felon is back in custody after he allegedly stole a woman's firearm and ran away after she gave him a ride, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

A convicted felon is back in custody after he allegedly stole a woman's gun and ran away after she gave him a ride, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies responded to the suspect's home near Adamo Dr. in Tampa, they said 22-year-old Elijah Wilson slammed the front door into a deputy, and took off out of the back of the home.

Deputies were able to find Wilson hiding in a shed, thanks to help from a K9.

Wilson was arrested and the stolen gun was found nearby.

Charges

  • Grand theft of a firearm
  • Battery on a law enforcement officer
  • Felon in possession of a firearm

What they're saying:

"Thanks to our deputies' bravery and swift response, a dangerous situation was quickly brought under control," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Their dedication and teamwork ensured the recovery of a stolen firearm and the arrest of a convicted felon, keeping our community safe."

HCSO is investigating the incident.
