Copenhagen offering tourists freebies if they help pick up litter

Tourists will get a chance to enjoy free food and activities if they help pick up trash and take public transportation while visiting Copenhagen in Denmark.

Introduced last week, the "CopenPay" program aims to encourage tourists to make conscious green choices despite being on vacation.

"Through CopenPay we therefore aim to incentivize tourists' sustainable behavior while enriching their cultural experience of our destination. It is an experimental and a small step towards creating a new mindset amongst travelers and one among many initiatives we are doing to make traveling more sustainable", said Mikkel Aarø-Hansen, CEO at Wonderful Copenhagen.
