Diver keeping head of gator that bit him

The golf ball diver attacked by an alligator is recovering at home and now he has a special trophy to help tell the story of the time he was attacked by a gator

Scott Lahodik was given the preserved head of the beast that took a bite at him as he dove for golf balls at Rotonda Golf and Country Club.

Lahodik's daughter posted a photo of the alligator's head on Facebook, adding, "Thankfully Mr. Gator bait is getting the head of the gator that got him!"

She says he's having it professionally preserved by a taxidermist and will keep it at home so he can tell the story of the gator he fought, with the added bonus of a visual aid.

Lahodik's daughter says her father is on the mend. He will spend the next four weeks getting in-home care, but he likely will not be able to return to the job he's been doing since he retired from the military in 1988.

His family has set up a GoFundMe account to help with his medical expenses. It can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/43nhiu8.
