Dog frisbee helps owners bond with their pets

CLEARWATER, Fla. (FOX 13) - The spin of a frisbee whizzes through the air for little miss Grace to catch it mid-jump. 

The Upper Suncoast Dog Training Center out of Clearwater trains dogs from obedience to basic manners, but they also teach how to connect with your dog.

Chris Anderson, a volunteer with the facility, says it’s important to be a “dog handler team” to show oneness with your dog. 

Being able to connect in such a way leads to competitions, in which many at Upper Suncoast participate.

"Dog Frisbee" is a popular contest where it involves the handler throwing the frisbee for the dog. In this competition, the handler has to estimate how far his or her dog can run. 

Chris says it’s all about positive reinforcement, which encourages the dog’s behavior patterns.
