Tampa police are on the hunt for a creative criminal. They say a man crawled through a home's doggy door to burglarize the property.

The house, which is located near Linebaugh Avenue East and 22nd Street, was broken into last Thursday night.

A man is spotted on the home's surveillance video attempting to enter through a door or window. Police say when that proved unsuccessful, he somehow wiggled his way through the doggy door. He's accused of stealing cash and electronics.

Police say he didn't go very far following the crime. Shortly after, he's spotted on surveillance video in the Xnax Food Store, right next to the house.

Police say this is a good reminder that any unlocked access into your home is an invitation to desperate criminals.

"I think that this case is a case in point that your house is not completely secure if there's a lock up here, but a doggy door down there. That means that somebody who can fit through the doggy door would be able to enter your home," TPD's Steve Hegarty said Tuesday.

If you recognize the suspect or have any information about the crime, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS.
