#DRESSGATE: What color is this dress?

Is it black and blue, or white and gold? That is the question.

…The question that's practically breaking the internet after a woman posted a picture of a dress online saying she and her friends could not agree on its true color.

It was originally sent to her friend by her friend's mother, she told Business Insider. The mother wanted an opinion on the dress she planned to wear to her daughter's upcoming wedding, but no one could even agree on what color it was, let alone give their opinion. 

The debate has gone viral, adopting hashtags like "#Dressgate", "#BlackandBlue" and "#WhiteandGold", and even sparked tweets from people like Taylor Swift: 

"I don't understand this odd dress debate and I feel like it's a trick somehow. I'm confused and scared. PS it's OBVIOUSLY BLUE AND BLACK")

and Kim K: 

"What color is that dress? I see white & gold. Kanye sees black & blue, who is color blind?"

So which is it?

The original poster later replied and said that the woman ended up wearing to the wedding, and in real life, it is in fact blue and black.
