Dunnellon man sets his mobile home on fire, no injuries: CCFR

A Dunnellon man admitted to setting his mobile home on fire Saturday, according to Citrus County Fire Rescue.

CCFR responded to a 1,400-square-foot double-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

When crews arrived to extinguish the fire, the homeowner objected. Telling the fire crews that he wanted to dispose of the old structure.

He stated he had created a fire break around the building and moved all the belongings to a newer home approximately 100 feet away, according to CCFR.

Crews successfully put out the fire and no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

Fire Chief Craig Stevens reminded residents that it is both illegal and unsafe to burn structures for disposal.

"This incident highlights the importance of adhering to legal procedures for structure removal," said Fire Chief Craig Stevens. "Our priority is to protect lives and prevent hazardous situations."
