E-scooter rider hit by semi on busy Tampa roadway
TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - A person riding an e-scooter on a busy Tampa street was hit by a tractor-trailer, Tampa Fire Rescue confirmed.
The e-scooter rider was in the far right lane when they veered in front of the semi truck, according to Tampa police, who are investigating the crash. The rider was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The view from SkyFOX showed an e-scooter with green trim in the center right lane of 20th Street S at the intersection of Gordon Street.
Lime e-scooters, which recently began operating in downtown Tampa, released a statement saying “Our thoughts are with the rider involved in this tragic incident in Tampa and we’re praying for a full recovery. We have reached out to local authorities and stand ready to assist however possible.”
