The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said alcohol and speed contributed to a crash that left a father and son dead Saturday evening.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Park Boulevard at 104th Lane in Seminole.

According to deputies, 60-year-old James Wolf slammed his Chevrolet SUV into the back of a Lexus sedan that was stopped at the red light on Park Boulevard. The impact pushed the Lexus into the eastbound lanes, where it collided with two more vehicles.

The driver of the Lexus, 59-year-old Edward Delzer, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His passenger and father, 86-year-old Harvey Delzer, also died in the crash.

Wolf and the occupants of the other vehicles were not seriously injured.

Patricia Catallo was at the intersection when the accident happened. Just seconds after the impact, the former trauma nurse sprang into action.

"Jumped out of the car, went to try and find vital signs. Unfortunately I could not find a pulse," Catallo said. "We started compressions and some other people went to the other side of the car and then ascertained there was not pulse there."

Catallo hopes the family can take some measure of comfort in knowing there were people who did everything they could to save their lives.

"There were people who cared what was happening to their family, and my heart goes out to them because I can't imagine what they're going through right now," she said.

Investigators say charges are pending against Wolf and alcohol was believed to be involved in the crash.
