Tampa woman killed after crashing car into Tarpon Springs patrol vehicle, troopers say

A driver from Tampa passed away after colliding into the back of a parked Tarpon Springs patrol vehicle on Tuesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 24-year-old woman was heading south on U.S. Highway 19 near Sun Valley Boulevard. She was driving a 2010 Hyundai Accident.

Troopers say the patrol vehicle, a marked 2021 Chevy Tahoe, had its emergency lights on and was parked in the inside lane of U.S. 19. Other patrol vehicles were in the area for a traffic stop.

Around 2:16 a.m., investigators said the Tampa driver collided with the rear of one of the patrol vehicles. It was unoccupied.

The driver was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.
