PALM HARBOR, Fla. - A man died after an SUV hit him as he tried to cross a busy road in Pinellas County on Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

What we know: Troopers responded shortly after 6:30 a.m. along the eastbound side of Tampa Rd. near U.S. 19 in Palm Harbor.

FHP said the 44-year-old man walked into the path of a Hyundai SUV, driven by a 41-year-old woman, hitting him.

The man was rushed to the hospital, but did not survive.
