Fiery crash kills New Port Richey man after losing control of car: FHP
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - A high-speed crash on State Rd. 54 killed one person and sent another to the hospital with serious injuries early Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP says a 23-year-old New Port Richey man was heading westbound in a Chevy Corvette when he lost control while navigating a curve east of Starkey Blvd.

His car crossed the center median and flipped before colliding with a Mercedes C300 driven by a 43-year-old Hudson man as he headed east.
The crash sparked a fire after the Mercedes collided with the driver's side of the Corvette.

The 23-year-old died from his injuries and the 43-year-old was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
An investigation is ongoing.
