Florida issues new military license plates

TAMPA (FOX 13) - Veterans and active duty military now have six new special license plates to choose from.  The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles announced the release of the following new plates Monday.

Combat Action Ribbon
Distinguished Flying Cross
Woman Veteran
Air Force Combat Action Medal
Navy Submariner
World War II Veteran

"Military license plates differ from specialty license plates in that each has unique requirements that must be met,
such as proof of service in the armed forces," a DHSMV press release explained.  "Forms and documentation are required for each plate."

The DHSMV now offers 36 military license plates. In 2015, there were 90,456 military special license plates issued statewide.
