Florida man accused of using artificial intelligence to create child porn, deputies say

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office says a man faces criminal charges for possessing child pornography, some of which was created using artificial intelligence, marking the first such case in the county.

Months-long investigation

The backstory:

HCSO said the investigation began in October 2024 when detectives received a tip about Jack Boston, 29, possessing child sex abuse material.

The sheriff's office executed a search warrant at Boston's Spring Hill home in November and interviewed him. Deputies arrested him after he admitted to posting explicit images on social media, according to HCSO.

Investigators said they discovered more images on Boston's phone earlier this month, including three files containing sexual abuse and an additional six that were generated using AI.

Boston, who was already in jail without bond, now faces additional charges of possession of child pornography and six counts of generated child pornography.

What they're saying:

"Sheriff Al Nienhuis has a zero tolerance for possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "Any and all tips are, and will be, meticulously investigated, no stone will be left unturned. Any person who possesses material of this nature will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
