ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - It's not easy being the incumbent, especially when there are five others on stage who all want your job.
As usual, Mayor Rick Kriseman faced the most attacks during a debate Tuesday night at City Hall in St. Petersburg.
Kriseman cited League of Women Voters debate rules, which prohibited immediate rebuttals, as the reason for his focus on-message.
With one more forum to go, a head-to-head against former Mayor Rick Baker, Kriseman finds himself down 46-38 to Mayor Rick Baker in a SaintPetersBlog poll released Tuesday.
He is also being out-fundraised by Mayor Baker in what has become the most expensive race in St. Petersburg Mayoral history, $837,000 to $631,000.

"I feel like we have great momentum," said Kriseman. "I am out knocking on doors every weekend. The response has been tremendous from people. A lot of folks saying I have your back, we are in this, this is going to be yours. We need to keep moving the city forward. So I am very confident."
If no candidate cracks 50 percent in the August 29th primary, there would be a runoff between the top two.
The poll of approximately 1,000 likely voters showed the four relatively minor candidates pulling just under ten percent, keeping both Baker and Kriseman under fifty.
Kriseman, ironically, may benefit from the large crowd.
"That is the process. That is what makes democracy great," said Kriseman. "It is an opportunity for every one of these candidates to express their views."
The next debate is next week and will be between the "two Ricks."
Both said they would prefer all six candidates attend.
