Former Seminole soccer player dies in car accident in PA
SEMINOLE (FOX 13) - A young woman from Seminole is being remembered after she was killed in a car crash in Pennsylvania.
A large crowd came together at Seminole High School’s soccer field to remember the 20-year-old who graduated from the school three years ago.
The crowd prayed and shared their feelings of heartbreak after hearing the news their friend Olivia Red was gone.
On the field is where they shared some of their fondest memories and now where they say goodbye.
“We played soccer together for many years on this field and she loved soccer so much,” Olivia’s friend, Hannah Gould said at a vigil Thursday night.
Hannah said Olivia was the fastest player on the field.
Her closest friends learned Thursday about the tragic accident involving Olivia’s car, a pickup truck, and a tractor trailer.
“It’s inconceivable that someone that young with so much of a future in front of them, you know, their life can be cut short with such just, just craziness, such a random act,” Olivia’s former coach, John Maricone said.
“She always had a smile on her face she was always being goofy and tenacious on the field. [She] never gave up and that’s how she lived her life,” former teammate Leah Rupuano said.
Holding tightly to one another, friends and former classmates came together to grieve and pray.
Their memories will be forever cherished - on and off the soccer field where she led her team.
Her community now stands together, honoring the moments she left behind.
