Emily McAlister's California adventure to visit a friend she’d never met in person touched her emotions.

“There are no words to really describe the whole thing," Emily recalled. "I still get teary eyed about it. So does she."

Emily finally met Sandy Lynch, who had become pen pals, writing each other letters for just about two decades. The two truly share a special bond.

Emily's brother Gary died in a car crash in California.  Emily donated his kidney. At the time, it saved Sandy's life.

Twenty years later, Emily decided it was time for them to meet.

"I was nervous at first because I didn't know what to expect," Emily said.

But, the two bonded immediately.

"On our way to the baggage claim, we just held onto each other like two long lost sisters,” Emily said as she gushed with pride. “There are really no words to actually describe it."

In the end, two families came together due to a gift of unselfish love -- a gift that saved a life.
