Venice road reopens following hazmat incident

The road outside the Venice Solid Waste facility has reopened following a fuel spill late Tuesday morning.

It happened outside the facility at 221 Seaboard Avenue in Venice. 

Few details have been released, but both lanes of the 200 block of Seaboard Avenue were shut down after the spill.  The city building was evacuated, but has since reopened.

Firefighters and police from the city of Venice as well as a hazmat team from Sarasota County responded to the incident. 

Officials have not said what caused the fuel spill.
