TAMPA, Fla. - The Gasparilla Music Festival that was scheduled for February has been postponed, organizers said in a social media post on Thursday.
Organizers said they made the decision to postpone the festival due to ongoing financial strains caused by "two consecutive years of extreme weather and unforeseen circumstances."
"This decision was not made lightly, as we understand the immense impact this has on our community, the artists, our GMF staff, and the many individuals who look forward to GMF each year," the Gasparilla Music Festival team said in a statement on their website. However, in an effort to preserve the long-term health of our nonprofit foundation and ensure that we can continue to provide a vibrant and meaningful cultural experience in the years ahead, we believe this is the best course of action."

They said the past two years have led to challenging financial strains on the foundation. They said they'll be spending this time reevaluating, recovering and beginning to plan for the next festival.
The social media post said organizers have started processing ticket refunds, and anyone who has purchased tickets should expect to receive communication. They are hoping to have all refunds processed in the next seven to fourteen days.
Organizers said to stay tuned for updates on new dates. Anyone with questions is encouraged to reach out. Click here for more information.
