Greenbrier, W.Va. devastated by flooding

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV (FOX 13) - Historic flooding hit Greenbrier County, West Virginia Thursday, and authorities are looking for a toddler who went missing during the storms.

Video taken by Amanda Carper along a flooded river in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. shows a burning home floating by. There was no word on whether anyone was in the home when it was swept away and caught fire.

Meanwhile, Fox News reports, authorities were looking for a toddler, between the ages of two and four, they said was swept away in the floodwater Thursday. Deputies in Jackson County, W.Va. said strong storms moving through the area made them pause search efforts during the afternoon.

In the northern part of the state, the body of an 8-year-old boy was found after he was swept away by swift water.
The flooding happened in a mostly rural area best known for its Greenbrier golf resort, owned by millionaire Jim Justice, who said in a news release, ““It’s like nothing I’ve seen. But our focus right now isn’t on the property, the golf course or anything else. We’re praying for the people and doing everything we can to get them the help they need.”

Forecasters predicted severe weather and heavy rains would continue throughout Thursday night, into Friday morning.
