Groundbreaking held on new Veterans Civic Center just north of MacDill AFB

A group of retired Army Green Berets broke ground Tuesday on a Veterans Civic Center on South Dale Mabry Highway, just north of MacDill Air Force Base

They said it will provide a variety of services for veterans, active duty military and their families.

"We’ll have a 24/7 kiosk set up if you are a veteran and need some sort of service, we’ll have a kiosk where you can look it up and be put in touch with somebody in the community," said Rob Cavin of the Tampa Green Beret Association.

What the Green Beret Association calls their "Team House," they said the facility will have meeting rooms for all kinds of classes, special events and more.

The group has been fundraising for more than 20 years to build the $3 million, 6,000 square foot facility. They believe it will take six months to build, and they hope to complete construction by June 2024.
