Guns, drugs found in vehicle following chase in Polk County: FHP

A chase through Polk County ended with two people in handcuffs after troopers said they found guns, drugs and cash in a vehicle they had to forcibly stop with multiple PIT maneuvers.

The backstory:

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, troopers tried to pull over a Kia because it made an improper stop on Main Street before turning right on Recker Highway.

Troopers said they activated lights and sirens, but the vehicle sped off, driving into oncoming traffic.

During the chase, multiple PIT maneuvers were done to try to stop the vehicle, and it finally came to a stop after a PIT maneuver caused it to crash into a tree, according to FHP.

Troopers said the driver, later identified as Chaniese Brionne Davis, got out of the car and began running away.

The trooper replied that he saw her hair while he was chasing the Kia and that it was her, not Everett, who doesn’t have much hair, that was driving.

Davis was arrested for fleeing to elude high speeds without violence and driving without a valid license.

Everett, who troopers say had multiple warrants, was arrested on multiple gun and drug charges.
