The story of a wolf-dog who was on the loose in Hillsborough County earlier this week has a happy ending.
Thursday morning, the staff at HorsePower for Kids announced that Akela had returned to his home Thursday morning, and willingly walked right into his enclosure with his brother.
The staff credited Hillsborough County Animal Control worker Steve Scanlon, who they say worked until midnight to help make Akela's return possible.
Akela escaped from his enclosure during Monday's storms, when a lake on the HorsePower For Kids property overflowed, washed away dirt at the fence's edge, and made it possible for him to get out.
